Church Partnerships

God has uniquely equipped and called the church to engage in His mission to care for children and families impacted by the foster care system. Your church can be a child's sanctuary.

We're Here for What's Ahead

We know churches want to care for children in the foster care system, but it is not always easy to develop a ministry that serves vulnerable children and families in your community. At WinShape Homes, we come alongside churches and families in the state of Georgia and offer comprehensive guidance to those called to care.

How We Partner with churches

Education & Awareness

We help churches understand the realities children and families face in the foster care system. Through strong partnerships, we work with churches to launch and sustain healthy foster care ministries. Rooted in biblical values, we equip churches through evidence-based practices, to help cultivate thriving foster families in their churches.

Serving Foster Families

Churches, government agencies and families have trusted us for more than 35 years to help children find safe, loving homes. As a child placing agency, we work closely with the state to prepare and license your families to foster. We serve children and their foster families through our clinical care, in-house case management and financial assistance.

Care Communities

Studies show that foster families with support from their community foster stronger and longer. We are committed to supporting churches as they develop wrap around communities of care. We know everyone can't do everything, but we believe everyone can do something to make a real difference in the lives of children and families.

Join the "Better Story"

Foster care is not just a story of what’s been broken, but of what is being made whole. Jesus’ scars tell a story not of death and destruction, but of life and resurrection. Foster care tells that same story—of healing, restoration, and new beginnings. We believe the church is an integral part of the better story God is writing.

Resource for Churches

FAQ

Would our church need to provide financial support in this partnership?

There is no financial commitment to partner with WinShape Homes. We are grateful to be able to provide resources for our foster families and church partner to help develop robust foster care ministries.

How long does it take to develop a foster care ministry?

Developing a foster care ministry represents a long-term investment, but you’ll probably be welcoming foster children at your church sooner than you’d expect!

While every ministry develops at its own pace, each of our church partners walks through a few consistent steps when launching their foster care ministry.

1. We host a foster care ministry launch at your church.

During this launch, we invite your church to engage, and we personally connect with any church members who are interested in fostering. The launch also gives us the opportunity to meet those who would like to support foster families through respite care or your church’s Care Community.

2. Interested church members attend Discover Foster Care.

Those interested in foster or respite care are invited to attend one of our monthly, virtual Discover Foster Care info sessions. In these sessions, we share more about the foster care process and how we support your church members in it. This casual, low-pressure environment also provides the perfect opportunity to ask questions.

3. Those committed to fostering begin the licensing and home study process.

When individuals or families are ready to move forward with fostering, we’re ready to dive in with them. Although every journey to fostering is different, once the process is underway, it takes an average of 10 weeks to become licensed for a placement.

Our team is committed to timely processes, and we value being efficient. We do everything we can to get people to the finish line to foster, so in most cases the individual or family being licensed will set the pace for their progress.

Explore our Foster Care page to learn more about this process for individuals and families.

How long will it take for our families to start fostering?

Each individual or family determines the pace of the licensing and home approval process. Our team is here to serve you, and we’re prepared to move as quickly or slowly as you’d like.

On average, potential foster families can expect to spend around 15 weeks in the training and equipping phase.

Please explore our Foster Care Page to learn more about the details of this process for individuals and families.

Our scope of service limits our ability to license homes in certain counties in the state of Georgia, but we maintain a significant network of agencies.
