Answering the Call to Care

Jaci’s story reminds us of what God can accomplish through our simple obedience. As she shares in this video: “What a beautiful testimony to how sovereign God is—that He took one very flawed family’s ‘yes’ and saved a little girl’s life.”

Hear From Our Foster Families

“The first thought that goes through my mind now is, ‘No, you can’t do it, because you can’t do it on your own,' but you can do it with the Lord. It is possible.”

Lindsey

Foster Parent

“This is not us; it’s about Jesus... It’s what He cares about, and it’s how we live out our faith. It’s a way to tangibly live out our belief that we are called to care for foster children.”

Mark

Foster Parent

“I feel indescribable fullness in caring for these children.”

Although every journey to fostering is different, once an individual or family is ready to start the licensing process, we’ve seen it take an average of 10-weeks (placeholder) to become licensed for a placement. We value being efficient, getting people to the finish line to foster, so in most cases it is up to the individual or family. The first step in this journey is to attend our virtual Discover Foster Care session. Here you can learn more about the process and what kind of timeline to expect.

Can a single person be a foster parent?

Single adults are absolutely eligible to foster and many do so with incredible success. What’s important is having emotional maturity, stability, and a supportive community around you. WinShape Homes will help ensure you’re equipped and connected, so you never walk the journey alone.

How do I know when I am ready to commit?

We know that fostering is a big commitment and at times can be a scary one, but if you’re reading this, chances are God has drawn you to this work for a reason. Practically, there are state requirements that qualify you to start the licensing process. A great starting point is to explore what those are and see if your household aligns with these. If you think you’re able to meet these requirements, the next step is exploring emotional, spiritual, and mental readiness. No matter where you’re at in the process, and even if you are brand new to the conversation, our team is here to help you explore making this commitment. We’d love to send you some free resources to learn more about what readiness looks like. Also, Discover Foster Care is the perfect setting to assess whether or not you are ready to jump in.
